Poker Drugs Alcohol Sex Thugs

I am a quadruplet when it comes to these things - Poker, Drugs, Alcohol, and Sex. They are 4 big words that people seem to associate together making poker players look like thugs. I am not sure I am a thug though! Maybe many poker players are, maybe however those that indulge in all 4 things are simply normal human beings. Maybe all poker players secretly binge and crave for these things and possibly there are many poker players that do nothing but play poker. Certainly I am no angel though. I am not a demon either in saying that.

All of the biggest named poker players in the world have at least one of these things in their list of activities. Certainly they have poker, thats without question. Most of them also drink alcohol from what I have worked out and they no doubt have sex too. Even the women that look like saints in our industry have sex, I believe the proof is there in their off spring. A lot of our lady players and many of our male players have kids so sex also goes without saying.
Does anyone really think there are players out there that do not do anything exce
pt play poker? They are all human, they all live lives. Some a little steamier then others, regardless even our senior citizens in poker "play up".

When it comes to drugs though we are thankfully leaving some players in the royal room. Drugs however is a wide word. What i mean is there are many types of drugs.

My quadruplet lifestyle of Poker Drugs and Alcohol isnt as bad as some players. My list includes the biggest killing drug: Cigarettes (eew - disgusting). Also the pharmaceutical medications I take for my an
xiety and panic attacks on a daily basis one being valium. Add then my pain relief when needed which is pretty frequent. I pretty much quadruple drugs let alone poker drugs alcohol and sex which I guess is pretty bad. Does this make me look like an industry thug though?

In regard to the poker industry and outsiders, I care what people think. I do consider myself somewhat of a get up and go role model. I dont really care what other players think about me though, do you? Here's the thing when it comes to other poker players and getting your name out there - if they are thinking they are talking and if they are talking its good for me! As long as they are not telling lies like saying I am a bong head, a coke head or a crack whore it does
n't bother me. Even when they say these things its like water off a ducks back to me - most people know me well enough to know I condone drug use (thats sounding hypocritical but true - marijuana through to heroin, I dont care what "illegal drug" you take, dont offer it to me.

I have take
n quite a few drugs in my past though. For anyone that doesnt know me so well I was a stoner and a half until I was about 25. All day, every day I smoked pot. I look back now and think of how much money and how many brain cells I wasted and cringe. Not sure why i did that other then it became habitual and was really pretty awesome to be smashed all day. The addiction went out the door as quick as Santa Claus though. I just woke one morning and said "The party is over" and never smoked that crap again. I have many friends that tug away, many who play poker, I simply ignore them as they smoke their joints or pipes and continue drinking my drink.

I have also taken speed (I drank it lol). I drank it before a trip to crown casino about 12 years ago (yes I have been around a lot longer then most of you Aussie's think when it comes to Crown Casino but thats another story). I didnt sleep all night and day, I drank more alcohol then I ever have in my life over the 36 hour period and I didnt feel dunk. I smashed about 7k over the black jack tables and about 8k right back at me. I danced, roamed the streets and partied in my crown towers room until my body was jumping in and out of consciousness. I wont do it again. The after effects are disgusting.

Anyway, enough about what I have done, i am not here to self confess myself as a crazy psycho drug ridden, drunken smoking poker player with a sex drive that would kill a nun if she found out. Mostly as that isnt true. I am trying to logically think if all poker players dabble, used to dabble or closet dabble and if the world thinks we are thugs.
To look at the world beyond poker. To look at the people who do not play poker. I think we are pretty even. I think they can keep their traps shut if they want to tart mouthing and calling poker players thugs.

How many of you have seen little old ladies sitting pumping hundreds of dollars through a poker machine they are literally filling their life with as they drink wine and smoke a cigarette? Ha! Caught! Little old ladies against poker players, we are onto YOU!

How many people have seen young guys in suits drunk, smoking a cigarette and high on drugs about to hit the casino tables as they walk on in jamming coins in slot machines as they do their weekly wage? Business men you have been OUTED! ha!

How many people have seen our biggest celebrities playing up? (Thats self explanatory).

How many have seen average Joe's hit the TAB and sportsbetting on the weekend as they get drunk and have a fag (Aussie slang for cigarette) in their backyard by the bbq? CAUGHT!

Lastly, how many people have thought about what the queen of England does? She sure a hell had sex in her earlier days and sure as hell do all the princesses and princes and the president and the politicians. All of you are outed. Your all bad for a reason. I am sure you all "sip champagne or scotch" I am sure you all pop a pill when your head hurts and I am sure you have all gambled on a game which is less likely to make you money then poker would.

In summary -

Dear world full of people that think poker players are thugs. Please take a long hard look at yourself. You calling poker players thugs or thinking of them as drunks, and addicts that take drugs have sex, get pissed and gamble please know that you do also.

To the poker players that REALLY party hard and hit hard drugs and spend their entire life pissed. I will enjoy playing you when you are in that state and eliminating some chance of that in your old age by taking your coinage.

That is all!

Breakfast Requirements for Poker Players

Months ago I started working on saving and rejuvenating my liver. I needed to determine not only a healthy breakfast but breakfast requirements for poker players such as myself. With the countless amounts of things I need to do each day, maintaining a good diet can be pretty hard. Having a delicious and nutritious breakfast is one of them and even though my diet is meant to be a very strict one I find myself reverting to take away foods a lot more then a should – which is pretty much never.

Every day I would love to start with something to kick start my system the right way for both brain power and digestive stability. Cereal, toast, fruit, juice are just a few things I would like on my menu! Add some scrambled eggs and I would be happy!

So this morning pretty much as usual I am run off my feet with 4 kids to organize for school and writing and poker to get to and miss breakfast, the kids missed it too, it was a frantic morning, a morning which has become far to duplicated. Due to this I went on search for the breakfast I would not only love for myself but also for my kids. What a waste of time!

I went to every cafe, fast food restaurant and bakery I could locate in this city and none of them had what was needed by humans to live beyond the means of their kitchen cupboards healthily. Now how does a busy mum and poker player survive like this? Here I am thinking of traveling and of course there is going to be a fabulous breakfast at any casino motel I may stay at, but if I don't? Hell I can't even get breakfast in my home city!

Anyway so here are the things that were available to me for breakfast this morning:

Bacon and Egg Rolls

Normal Cafe Food (Burgers, pies etc)

McDonalds Menu

Hungry Jacks Menu (Burger King)

Anything else required for breakfast equates to a huge wait and masses of dollars. I am not paying $25 for a healthy breakfast, I can't afford it; plain and simple! Multiply $25 by 5 or 6 people! Pffft!

So here is my thought; Someone out there PLEASE start a fast food breakfast and lunch chain / franchise. I certainly can't afford to otherwise I would. A fast food outlet where we can get cereal and milk in a plastic takeaway bowl, some toast, a fruit platter, a choice of fresh juice in a cup and some scrambled eggs maybe!

For lunch I would like a range of salads and lean cold meat or a casserole or meat and vegetables pretty much like healthy choice meals with the same options for dinner.

I am sure someone out there can see the fortune to be made with cars piling up through the drive through service at 6am to 9am with a carload of kiddies, business men and women and of course tradesmen and poker players!

Anyone who does this is not only going to line their pockets with bucket loads of cash but also feel good that they have helped the busy people in this world keep their bodies healthy by providing a diet that isn’t available unless they are transiting at a 5 star resort or through their own kitchen.

What did I have for breakfast? An orange juice and a disgusting tasting fatty burger - yuk!

Poker News and Poker Results Help Grow Poker Industry

Global poker news is a very important part of the poker industry. In fact; the journalists, bloggers and film-makers of such news have some of the most important positions in this industry. Let's imagine if poker news was never heard nor seen. Would poker be in the boom stage it is today? I suggest not. Global poker news has helped spread the game of poker to every corner of the globe. Without the global news, poker would hardly be known or heard of throughout the world. I have found this applies to all different sectors of poker since the launch of Womens Poker News.

I can use two massive news stories as examples to show exactly how important it is to have poker news published. These two news stories changed poker for good. Without these stories poker would not be a part of the common man's life nor would it be booming in the land down under; Australia. Global news story number one is that of Chris Money Maker. Chrises unique and brilliant storey on his World Series of Poker win rocked the world. The rock was so deep that it made many men alike Chris (tradesmen) head to the felt to be the next world series champ. The news of this victory by a simple tradesman was spread as global news meaning tradesman world wide were now up for the challenge: “If he can do it, I can do it – How easy was that and with such little skill” was the common thought. Thus it wasn't Chris that made a poker boom amongst common men world wide, it was global poker news providers.

My second example would be that of Joe Hachem. Australians went crazy over poker after Joe's World Series of Poker win. Without poker news, we would not have even heard of the win. Australians would still be laying back knowing little about the game – rather then almost every citizen knowing something about it. I remember the days before Joe's win there were not so many Aussies playing on online poker sites as I see now. Now, they are everywhere! Thousands and thousands of them. Also incorporated of course the APL (Australian Poker League).

Although many people in the world did not read poker news from actual poker news sites or publications on these two industry changing wins (as poker was not as common), the hype was broadcast in many news variants from television and radio through to papers and magazines. Since then, the actual tournaments have been replayed also. The point is the news spread globally! The global poker news spread caused the poker booms!

Without global poker news poker wouldn't be what it is today. The roles of the reporters as mentioned above are of most importance. Poker news is responsible for the way poker is today – for without global poker news poker would not have boomed. The stories of the most fabulous and life changing wins would never be known.

The Funniest Poker Book On Earth! WARNING PLAYERS!

This Book Review Was Originally Published in Australian Poker Weekly

Random Thought

"Writing this book review is probably going to be one of the funniest things I ever do, simply because the book is a crack up. By crack up I don't by any means think the book is worthless. I mean it is by far the funniest piece of literature I have ever read!".

Crazily I started my book review article with a "random thought". I thought (randomly of course) that starting the review like this was quite suitable as all throughout the book Texas Hold'em; Tony Korfman gives his random thoughts (I feel sorry for his wife). This book and reading this funny man of pokers "random thoughts" is strangely addictive. Be warned though so is his behaviour!

Since finalising this awesome book I now swear more, curse more, tease more, laugh more and write down my thoughts randomly like a crazy lunatic. Ok, really i don't! But thats what Tony Korfman would say, well at least I think he would. If he wouldn't say that then he is an idiot when it comes to writing book reviews about his own book!

Random Thought

"I just got caught out by 40,000 readers telling tales and calling someone an idiot like Phil Hellmuth would (or Tony Korfman). I am suing Tony Korfman for this, he has caused the ruin of my reputation!"

Readers; as wonderful as the blog you are reading is (for those who have forgotten due to age it is called Poker Down Under and Every Where Else or HotAussieChick blogspot), Tony Korfman's Texas Hold'em is all of the above plus more. Damn! I have lied again, it isnt all of the above, thats my rattling. It is however hillarious, entertaining, low cost (thats the best part) stupid, good, and at times has some good strategy. Don't get me wrong though the book doesnt appear in any way to be a strategy book. Actually, it does in some ways; a lot of ways. Tony Korfman tells it how it is. If that includes calling someone a Pri_k or saying the word F_ck, then he does. In saying that; if you do happen to be in that very old age category and have a pace maker (I have nothing against old people for the record) then I give you a WARNING -

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK IT WILL KILL YOU!

For anyone that isnt in that category and wishes the read a poker book that isnt going to send them to sleep. But this book now! It is USD$20 available at www.pokergas.com (where you will get a taste of whats in it) and comes with a DVD set so you dont actually have to read it.

Random Thought

"The best $20 you could spend this week is purchasing from Tony Korfman! You get a 389 page book, 12 CD's and the poker laugh of your life! This purchase is specifically suited to those who have lost all thier money playing poker and have had thier electrcity turned off - you can hear on the CD's rather then try reading this book in the dark. Oh My Goodness! I have mucked this review up again! For those who are as silly as me you need power to listen to CD's too!

No more random thoughts from me, my book review is over. Buy the damn thing for crying out loud you wont be dissapointed!

One more random thought before I go.......

"The more people that purchase this book the better off I will be when I sue Tony Korfman so I hope I have convinced you all to buy it. Of course, I could be a marvellous writer and have just written the review this way to make you buy the book and sue Tony Korfman for ruining my reputation. Untill you buy it though you will not know."

Poker and Life and the Psychological Similarities

“Life is a complicated thing to live!” I don’t think a single person on earth would disagree with that statement. No matter whom you are, what you do, or how much money you have there are always ups and downs. Combine poker into your life in an in-depth level and it becomes even more complicated; that’s what I have found anyway. But I am not here today to write about a poker life, rather; poker and life a simple comparison.

There are a lot of people out there that will benefit from this piece of writing which may not be for the light hearted. I hope you are one of those that benefit and I hope this gives you a good outlook and stronger persona on both of these topics “life” and “poker”.

I really went into deep thought the other day, about these two subjects and how one is comparable to the other; also the variables and the similarities. It all started with a conversation with a friend about “dealing with past” and all the crap that happens in peoples day to day lives; big or small. We went into deep converse about how some people can handle the psychological traumas inflicted on them and how some basically get sent to an asylum. Being two crazed poker playing lasses; the conversation changed to poker and life comparison. I will decipher this conversation minus any swear words which may have been part of it. Again; I hope this emphasises Poker and Life, and helps you in even the smallest kind of way with your poker game or your personal issues!

When it comes to life I have learnt that life is like a mass of poker hands, life IS poker as much as poker is my life.

There are bad beats in life that get us so down we are literally on the rail. There are sweet small victories where we think we have gotten on top and ahead when in reality; we are just climbing still. There are things we just can’t read into, things we have to fold and walk away from. The most important thing though when we see life as a game of poker is we have to move on from each and every hand.

We have to leave every hand behind us (to a certain degree). We have to leave the good ones and the bad ones as just a little memory tucked away for later use. There are lessons that we must keep with us; and closely in order to help us further on in life, but we use those lessons when needed; we don’t let them overcome us and sway our logical thinking and thought patterns.

Basically using life’s prior ups and downs as future indicators to help us along life’s path is like analysing if a player has a royal flush against our quad aces based on a previous hand. The thing is, we use those lessons when the time is right and when we need to otherwise we shouldn’t think of them (in reference to bad beats in life; in general – but also to victories; one must never be egotistic).

"Is this person about to burn me?" "What happened in that last hand?" these things fit together like snow white and rose red but they don’t always have to be 100% together, you see; every last hand is different but with some similarities.
In life and poker it is unlikely you would be dealt a bad beat exactly the same way as once before by a completely different man, person or situation. It is however expected that you will choose the same type of men/ persons and situations unintentionally in your life alike you would choose the same starting cards to call (Relationship statement based on common but in-depth scientific and psychological relationship comparison studies).

As for thinking of all the shit that gets dealt to you in life - that’s sends a person loopy, that’s like Doyle Brunson remembering every bad beat - 60 years of the never ending bad beats going over and in his head, he would have been institutionalised doing that. Doyle would be in a straight jacket! Who wouldn't?

Summary; if you can use the memories (lessons) from bad beats and victories in your poker at your own disposal and choice with 90% of them out of your every day thoughts, you can do the same in life; and likewise – If you can deal with the traumas, accomplishments and setbacks in life with them 90% out of your every day thoughts you will be a much stronger poker player and a very happy person regardless of what’s dealt up (90% is just a figure for us as an example – not an exact).

Poker and life go hand in hand, in my opinion anyway. Deal with both logically, systematically and sensibly. Venting a bad beat is the same as discussing a trauma with a counsellor. Some incidents are much harder to overcome; they take time, and they make us stronger and more equipped for the future. Those who don’t deal with things in a proper manor in both life and poker are looking at a downward spiral without a doubt.
